Ozan Atalan is a visual artist and independent researcher whose transmedia, interdisciplinary, and research-based practice spans video installations, design, drawing, performance, sculpture, video art, and critical media.
His works reflect an ecological+psychological+digital sensitivity and explore the modes of coevolution of human and nonhuman forms, drawing from the intersections of social and natural sciences, and often incorporating eco-queer performativity from a posthumanities perspective. He has exhibited widely at major national and international venues, including the 16th Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, Montpellier Contemporain, Pera Museum, and Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst.
With a background spanning law at Anadolu University (2007), and sculpture at Dokuz Eylul University (2013), Ozan holds an MFA from Syracuse University (2016) as a Fulbright Scholar and a Doctor of Fine Arts from Yasar University (2024). His research interests are at the intersection of speculative design, posthumanisms, and new materialisms, engaging with ecology, humanities, and digital culture through critical theory, semiotics, and visual communication.
As an Assistant Teaching Professor of Digital Arts: Graphic Design at Florida International University, Ozan integrates research-driven, interdisciplinary, and experiential approaches into his teaching, connecting visual culture, contemporary design, and communication with critical theory, transmedia image-making, and interdisciplinary art practice.
